Dave Matthews Band is, to me, one of the greatest things in the world. I kid you not- on my worst day, I can put Dave in the CD player and feel much better. The official fan site is located. Favorite songs you ask? One Sweet World, #41, #40, Bartender, Lover Lay Down, Crash Into Me, What Would You Say, Best of What's Around, Spoon, Crush, Lie In Our Graves, Ants Marching, Satellite, Seek Up,and Dreaming Tree are among my favorites.

Sarah McLachlan is another of my favorite artists, musically. Though I didn't really start collecting her CDs until about 2 1/2 years ago I was familiar with some of her stuff, and I continue to enjoy each CD I purchase. Favorites include Path of Thorns,Mary, Possession, Lost, Home,I will Remember You, Song for a Winter's Night and Adia.

David Wilcox is one of my artsy/folksy finds. My cousin sent a promotional copy of one of his albums to us, and we all instantly fell in love with it. While I still feel that his first CD, How Did You Find Me Here is his best CD, I've enjoyed his other CDs, including his newest, Underneath. Favorites include Jamie, Common As the Rain, The Kid, Blow 'Em Away, The Young Man Dies and Break In the Cup.

Beth Nielsen Chapman is another of the finds that I give my cousin credit for. I own 3 of her CDs and love each of them for a different reason. Her newest CD, Sand and Water is a stunning CD that most people will like- and her self titled CD doesn't have a single bad track. Favorites include Emily, Years, Sand and Water, Seven Shades of Blue, and Say Goodnight.

Mary Black is an immensly talented Irish singer. The first album of hers that I heard is called Babes In the Wood and it is one of the few CDs where I can honestly say that I know and enjoy every single song on it. I have another CD of hers that's more of a "best of" type of album, but her voice is just amazing. Happily I heard that she'll be in Akron in March, and if school permits I will be present. Favorite songs include Ellis Island, Adam at the Window, The Dimming of the Day, and many others.

Loreena McKennit is another of those artists who's voice is just magical to listen to. My father discovered that he has quite a passion for her when he heard Mummer's Dance on the radio. In the short time since then he officially owns every single CD she's ever made. The music is amazing, and with the combination of traditional celtic sounds and the curves she throws her music is a wonderful break from the sometimes repetitive world of pop music. Favorite songs include Bonny Swans, Samain Nights, Dante's Prayer, Mummer's Dance, The Lady of Shallot and The Highwayman.

The Barenaked Ladies are a group that I discovered a bit after many of the dire hard fans. When I was a freshman in college I went to visit my friend at Ohio State and one of her friends was BLARING Brian Wilson. I was intersted in the sound that they have and bought Gordon, because it has Brian Wilson and If I had $1,000,000. Their sound is fun and irrevrant and they must be hillarious in concert... If I had $1,000,000.... Favorites include If I Had..., Brian Wilson, What a Good Boy, One Week, The Flag and Crazy.

Rusted Root is another of my non-traditional finds. I've heard fans say that they're realy popular with the college crowd- but speaking as a member of the college crowd I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who's ever heard of them. This summer I went to see Jewel and they opened and my God are the fun to listen to. Favorites, you ask? Send Me on My Way, Back to the Earth, Big White Bird, Sister Contain, Moon and others.

Dar Williams is a canadian folk-style singer who I discovered through my WONDERFUL on-line friend, Jen Bullock. (Thank you Muff;) I have to admit that I only really know/like the first 5 tracks of the CD that I own, but that's 2 more than I liked when I first bought it. I'm sure she'll continue to grow on me. Check out If I Wrote You, What Do You Hear in these Sounds, Party Generation and Are You Out There.

Enya... Ah the joys of celtic music!!! I think we pretty much own everything Enya's ever done. Enya's really quiet, kind of a "Sunday morning, reading the paper, drinking coffee" type deal. You have to be in the mood for her stuff, but it's really gorgeous and relaxing. Pretty much anything on her Shepard Moons and on Watermark CD's.

Shawn Colvin is by now a rather well known name, but I've known about her for quite a while. Ironically I like her older stuff way better than A Few Small Repairs, but hey, it looks like my cousin really has a nack for picking good music. Check out the album Live '88 and Steady On, they're wonderful. Favorite songs include Steady On, Shotgun Down the Avelanche, Ricochet in Time, I Don't Know Why and many others.

R.E.M,. Fun band, although I'm not as dedicated to them as some people. I feel that by FAR their best album is Automatic for the People. Most of the songs that I know are from that cd, although they're newest single is really nice, too. Check out Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, (I am) Superman, Nightswimming, Find the River and New Orleans Instrumental.

Robbie Williams. Robbie who? Robbie Williams. You know, the guy from Take That??? Well, he's looking REALLY fine these days, and I LOVE his song Millenium. I haven't had the CD for long, but there are several tracks I like, however I can't list them at the moment because I moved all my CD's to school already and I'm at home... Soon though- check out the CD The Ego has Landed in the mean time.

Joni Mitchell. My dad introduced me to Joni Mitchell so long ago that I can't remember an exact date. My dad plays the piano a lot, and one of the songs he plays is For Free, from Ladies of the Canyon. Favs include For Free, Conversation, and The Circle Game.

Third Eye Blind I don't have a lot to say about Third Eye blind, but I really do like many of their songs. Plus, Steven Jenkins is such a hotty. (when his hair is short anyways... not digging the long hair at all...) Faves include Jumper, Semi-Charmed Life and Deep Inside of you.

Phill Collins I know, I know, it's kind of weird to sandwhich Phill Collins on this list among all these other folks, but I have to admit, the man can write a song. I loved the Tarzan soundtrack, especially "Strangers Like Me", it was vintage Phill Collins. Fave tracks include Strangers Like Me, Against All Odds, Separate lives, I Wish it Would Rain Down, and Trashin' the Camp.

Clannad My cousin Ann gave my dad a Clannad CD some years back, and all of us fell in love with their music. The lead singer of Clannad is Enya's sister (enya is another one of my favs on the celtic end of things), and while their styles are similar, the music is easily distinguishable, at least to me. Faves include: Both Sides Now, Theme from Harry's game, Lady Marian, In a Lifetime, and I will Find You.

Counting Crows I've been aware of Counting Crows for years, but kind of missed out on them at first. I'm catching up now, trust me. I absolutely love the Storyteller's disc from the Across a Wire CD, it's AWESOME. Fave songs: Mr. Jones, Round Here, Rain King, Angels of the Silences, Goodnight Elisabeth, Have you seen me Lately, and Long December.

Felicity Oddly, I don't watch this show, but I saw the cd in the record store in the town where I go to school, I pulled the headphones on and Oh My God, I loved this CD. I like almost all of it, minus only a few tracks, but I would recommend it to anyone who's into mellow Sarah McLachlan-y stuff. I especially like Heart and Shoulder, Puddle of Grace and This Woman's Work.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer This one I DO watch. Love this show, and the music on the soundtrack is quite good as well. It's louder than Felicity, but there are a few that are slow. Favs include Teenage FBI, Strong, I Quit, Over My Head, Lucky, Keep Myself Awake, Pain and Virgin State of Mind.

Armageddon I'm finally able to listen to more of this, now that they've stopped over playing I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. I bought it mostly for the Chantal Kreviazuk song, but there are other good songs on the soundtrack including La Grange, When the Rainbow Comes, Sweet Emotion, Mister Big Time and Leaving on a Jet Plane (Plus you gotta love the Animal Crackers track- how cute was that scene???)
